Symposium and workshop "Conservation-restoration education: past, present, future" (Split, 1 and 2 June 2018)
The Academy of Arts in Split, Conservation and Restoration Department, organizes a symposium "Conservation-restoration education: past, present, future" (Friday, 1 June 2018) and a theoretical-practical workshop on innovative methods and forms of teaching (Saturday, 2 June 2018). The symposium and workshop will be held in the north tower of the University Library in Split (multifunctional hall on the 2nd floor).
The motive for the symposium "Conservation-restoration education: past, present, future" is the twentieth anniversary of launching of the first conservation and restoration study programmes in Croatia, marked during the 2017/2018 academic year. The programme of the symposium consists of eleven lectures, which will cover a number of topics, from training of conservators-restorers in the past to the challenges conservation-restoration students face today. All lectures are open to the public.
The day after the symposium a theoretical-practical workshop will be held through which the participants will further their lecture and communication skills. The workshop will be led by Dr. Sc. Cathy Daly (University of Lincoln, School of History and Heritage), Shraddha Bhatawadekar (Brandenburgische Technische Universität Cottbus-Senftenberg), Sara Mazzarino (University of Rome "Tor Vergata", Dipartimento di Studi Umanistici) and Dr. Sc. Sagita Mirjam Sunara (University of Split, Academy of Arts, Conservation and Restoration Department). The workshop programme is designed according to the model of the ICCROM summer school Communication and Teaching Skills in Conservation and Science (link: https://www.iccrom.org/courses/communication-and-teaching-skills-conservation-and-science). The workshop is not open to the public.
