Workgroup for sustainable tourism “Creative cultural tourism and sustainable EUSAIR destinations” (Split, 16 - 18 October 2018)


As part of the 1st joint conference of the three Fora, Forum of the Adriatic and Ionian Cities, Universities and Chambers of Commerce that will be taking place from the 16th till the 18th of October 2018 in Split, Croatia, the Workgroup for Sustainable tourism will hold its annual meeting under the title of “Creative cultural tourism and sustainable EUSAIR destinations”.

The event will be held under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Croatia, five Croatian Ministries (Ministry of regional development and EU funds, Ministry of environment and energy, Ministry of agriculture, Ministry of tourism and Ministry of sea, traffic and infrastructure) and the AI-NURECC Initiative, supported by the European Commission.

 The above mentioned three Fora represent the network of 127 bodies and institutions from eight countries of the Adriatic and Ionian area, and have been identified, with the support and coordination of the Permanent Secretariat of the Adriatic and Ionian Initiative as the key stakeholders of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian region (EUSAIR).

The central event will be held on the morning of the 17th of October in Hotel Radisson Blu, Split. After the welcome speeches, two panels will be held, and in the afternoon seven Workgroups will take the floor, four in line with the EUSAIR thematic pillars; Blue Growth, Connecting the Region, Quality of Environment / Agriculture, and Sustainable Tourism, and additionally, traditional for the organising Fora, Workgroup on Women Entrepreneurship, Workgroup on Economic Analysis and the Workgroup on Societal Challenges.

The Workgroup on Sustainable tourism is in line with the respective EUSAIR thematic pillar and strives towards addressing contemporary issues and inducing constructive debate in line with EUSAIR priorities.
This year the Workgroup will deal with the topic: Creative cultural tourism and sustainable EUSAIR destinations, and will be divided into two panels:
