European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018

Join us in 2018 in marking the European Year of Cultural Heritage as we are preparing a large number of events at state, regional and local level and in doing so join the European celebration with a common goal of raising awareness of the importance and significance of cultural heritage.

Cultural heritage is the fabric of our lives and societies. It surrounds us in the cities we live in, we experience it directly in the landscapes, in encounters with a variety of architectural achievements, sculptures, archaeological land and underwater finds. It is not made just of literature, art and artistic objects, but also of traditional knowledge and skills, the crafts we learn, the stories we tell, the food we eat, the music we listen to and the movies we watch. Cultural heritage brings together communities and builds common understanding of the places we live in. By developing technology, the digital world also changes the way we approach heritage.

The European Parliament and the Council adopted on 17 May 2017 the Decision (EU) 2017/864 on the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018.
